Bloodlust

Bloodlust

A Poem by Shawna

Lost and alone
With what they say you've done
Nowhere to run
Look what we've become
Our hearts grow cold
At the sight of injustice
Their hearts burst with joy
At the thought of bloodlust
A nation once together
Now torn apart
Their lies have left their mark
With nothing left, where do we start?
Our hearts grow cold
At the sight of injustice
Their hearts burst with joy
At the thought of bloodlust
Fight for your innocence
Come together once more
Cast out from all others
But we know what we're fighting for
Lost and alone
With what they say you've done
Nowhere to run
Look what we've become
Our hearts grow cold
At the sight of injustice
Their hearts burst with joy
At the thought of bloodlust

Author's Note

Shawna
I wrote this poem about Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, because I believe he is innocent. I don't want this to affect your review, but I thought this might help you understand the poem more.

Viewpoint aside, I like your writing in this, it is nicely crafted.
I don't quite understand your use of the full repetition of verses 1 and 6, and verses 2, 4 and 7.
Was there an intent here? I think it could stand alone being just the separate verses, possibly repeating either verse 1 or 2 as a conclusion.
