Secret Masquerade

Secret Masquerade

A Poem by Shawna

Let the rain come down
And wash away my dreams
I know that's not how it is
But that's how it seems
Sun rays through rain clouds
Moonlight in this heart of mine
Stars' shine dims away
Meteor showers in a killing line
Stitching up the past
With memories of the future
He doesn't care
But still wants to show her
There's a secret masquerade
Behind his eyes
There's things in life
You just can't hide
It's water under the bridge
And fire in his veins
The earth still spins
Making the winds of change
The greens of envy
Overtake his soul
The blues of sadness
Take their final toll
Stitching up the past
With memories of the future
He doesn't care
But still wants to show her
There's a secret masquerade
Behind his eyes
There's things in life
You just can't hide
Flowers of trust
Die in his arms
While trees of lust
Cause her no harm
Roses grow
On his grave
Grasses glow
With every step she takes
Gone with the moonlight
Forever deadly
Now she's left abandoned
Standing mangled and steadily
Stitching up the past
With memories of the future
He doesn't care
But still wants to show her
There's a secret masquerade
Behind his eyes
There's things in life
You just can't hide
