Death, Love, Blood

Death, Love, Blood

A Poem by Megan Harris

Drawn to it immediately
Pulling at the strings that tie
Me to all my beliefs
Coming unstrung my life undone
The goals I'll never reach
The life I'll never taste
I saw it glittering
Hanging by a chain
A piece of my heart
Swinging in front of me
My hands are tied
By unbreakable rope
Digging into my wrists
Marking up my skin again
Clawed check marks into flesh
Blood stains on my hands
I can't wash them off.
I've bled out once before
Came so close to touching Death
Feeling his fingers intertwine with mine
Together we strung into one another
I almost got away with it
Feeling Death's lips on my own
