Let Go

Let Go

A Poem by Megan Harris

Go ahead...

I promise...

I'll say all the right words

Do all the right things

I'm just a toy now

I can see it in your eyes

You want nothing but the passing

That's all I've ever known

You're just a ghost that's come to use me

I'll be something to have and be had

You'll wear me and never wind

I'm just ticking away with broken...

You'll hug me and ask me if I'm happy

I say nothing

Sitting in your passenger seat...

I'm fraying

I'm rising above

Floating above everything

Every day I'm less and less attached

I wound myself around the hands of people who...

just let me go...

like a penny balloon

floating into oblivion

This is actually a very nice piece. Your imagery is concrete and evocative, which makes the visual aspect of this piece especially positive. I think, however, that a bit of grammatical and format tweaking could improve the piece tremendously. Otherwise, a great poem. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
