Fragility and the Absolute Loss of Humanity

Fragility and the Absolute Loss of Humanity

A Poem by Megan Harris

You provided light for all my dark
I am too scared
Too frail to hold it all back

Underneath you I shook
Holding tightly to the feeling
You've seen the world I live in
Covered in the black
My hues are fading out
In my cheeks no tinted glow
I am fading into the backdrop of broken
Becoming static as I dance

Because even though I smile widely
I am still cleverly hidden in a room
I am just a toy - just a doll
To spin around for you
Eyes that blink
Mouth that doesn't move

In front of only you - I wither
To me you are the sun
In front of you - I fall to pieces
I am mutable
I am breathless

But to you...I am nothing
