The Lanterns Drift Away

The Lanterns Drift Away

A Poem by pinksnowboots

On an ancient river,
twisting and winding,
though the mountains,
paper lanterns
float along
bobbing in the current,
trembling in the breeze.

Lanterns from
a child's game
long ago
still float along
the river.

They bring with them
memories of a time
from long ago
forgotten
by human minds.

But the river
remembers
what we
forget.
