Beautiful Language Barrier

Beautiful Language Barrier

A Poem by Dilan Gray
"

6/30/11 - I was in Japan when I wrote this.

"
I hear talking all around
but I can't understand a word.
Can't tell if what's being said
is good, bad, or just absurd.
There is a freedom that comes
with a language barrier.
No one can understand,
so everyone is merrier.
There are no hesitations,
nothing is taboo.
You can talk about me,
and I can talk about you.
It's like being in a bubble;
snide comments bounce away.
It's perfect that I can't
understand a single word you say.
Confidence is boosted to
the size of a carrier
when all around me there is
a beautiful language barrier.

I really like this! I wrote a poem on a similar theme a while ago, called "Italian Girls Talking." Three beautiful Italian girls were sitting at a table near me in a restaurant in Rome. I couldn't understand what they were saying, but it sounded divine!
