Escape To My World

In another world,
always getting lost.
The line away from reality
had been crossed.
I hide in my songs
and behind a book.
From my reality
I can't be shook.
I need the distraction
from my life.
I want a break from the
loneliness and strife.
I desire an escape
from this world.
When in my fantasy
my lips are finally curled.

The writing in this is very fine and rhymes are good. Maybe if you wrote more positive pieces it would help you feel better about yourself and the world. We get back what we put out so, if you put out depression and negativity, that's what you will get back. I can tell that you want to get to a better place. If what you've been doing isn't working then, try something else. Maybe talk to someone?

I wish there was a real escape from this world sometimes where we could just go to cheer ourselves up. Unfortunately there is not... it doesnt seem as if colonizing mars will become an option anytime soon.

yep.....reading was a huge release for me. It was like a legal drug or something.

Exactly! If I read a good enough book it takes me a little while to transition back to reality and give up the world I was just part of. I call it my book hangover.

This so reminded me of the Simon & Garfunkel song “I am a Rock” which contains the line “I gave my books, and my poetry to protect me.” I guess we all try to lose ourselves in words and sounds sometimes when the real world gets too much. Nice writing.

What I've found with your stories/poems is that you always manage to come up with something new and creative, but still just as good as the last, if not better. I think at some point we all need to escape from the harsh, cruel daily struggle that reality brings to us all. Either it's behind a good fantasy/crime/romance/horror book, or getting lost by listening to the songs that we cherish the most. We all have our ways of keeping a small part of ourselves sane by doing the things we love. This was very good and flowed evenly.
