My Slope

My Slope

A Poem by Dilan Gray
"

"
It would be so easy
to give up hope.
I'm plumeting down
a slippery slope.
Sure it sends me up
once in a while,
but the brief lift
just feeds my denial.
That little bump in the slope
only lasts so long,
scared of heights, I welcome the fall
that must be so wrong.
But I'm used to the fall,
it's been my path for years.
I'm used to the loneliness.
I'm comfortable with the tears.
So I continue to fall,
waiting to hit the ground.
When I do I won't get up,
I won't go another round.
Maybe that's why
my decent never ends,
because I'm not quite ready
to leave my family and friends.

Enjoyed this freely flowing fluid write, despite the blue subject. Thanks for sharing.

this old fart got tired of sliding downhill. i have learned to recognize when i'm going there, and try to as least level out, regroup, and head back upward. Life is too damn short!!
Good writing. I recognized the feeling right away.

I loved that! It was fluent from the start which had me hooked. I do understand what it is like to feel lonely. It's never a nice feeling; only those who're experiencing it at the same time, or have experienced, can truly understand why we feel like we do. It was a pleasure to read, sweet and touching, but very emotional too.
