Come Back to Me

5/27/2022 - A new muse poem after so many years without her company.

It’s been so long since we danced,

so long since we chatted.

I can’t seem to get my feelings out,

my words all seem matted.

I’ve forgotten your kiss.

I can’t remember your touch.

I only know these past years,

I’ve missed you so much.

We used to spend so much time

dancing our unique twirl.

It’s been so long now

but let’s give this a whirl.

Come back to me, my love.

I’ve longed for you so.

Lead me, direct me,

help my words grow.

Let’s set these pages aflame.

Let’s light a short fuse.

Help me write again,

my lovely, enchanting muse.

After all this time it seemed appropriate to reunite with my flirty muse.

I love this poem and it shares in a different and enjoyable way how we all tend to lose our muse at times. Mine has been gone for about a month and is just now revisiting....on occasion. Our muse can be fickle. I go periods without writing anything, and I have learned not to force matters. If I try writing when I don't feel inspired, the results are not good. So now I stay patient, knowing that the muse will return in good time. Yes, I can relate to your words here!
