You Said

You Said

A Poem by T.L. Cudjo
"

Often times we are given words we want to hear but the speaker is lying

"

He said I was beautiful I smiled

late night calls to say I'm thinking about you

Just another lie (heard her laughing in back)

Just another pretty boy is what you are

thinking the world is your toy box and women toys

Yes my heart beats faster when your around, just another lie

there are songs about men like you

always asking about my day, playing the eye game

You said "I'm a sensitive kind of guy"

lie lie lie lie lie

You came on strong and I ignored you

but you said "give me a chance"

dare I be a fool to trust what you said

too old to play the game,

my heart is a rare jewel not to be given

just because you said you'd be kind

You said I was special, beautiful, one of a kind

almost bought the lie until I saw you whispering

the same words to the new girl

I smiled so much for what you said

Whoever this man is is not worthy of you. You are a very talented writer, you can tell just by reading this!

"my heart is a rare jewel not to be given," that is my favorite line.
I love the way this rymes and flows well.
Great write!
