Empty

Empty

A Poem by pinkasylum
"

The nothingness of emptiness

"
The shopping cart lady on the streets of LA
every last filthy possession piled high upon another

The man at the end of the long fishing pier
looking out at the dogged infinity of life

The child in a swing under a dogwood tree
with never a friend to call all his own

The old dying man in his sterile white bed
already one step towards death's open door

The disturbed woman lingering at the old corner window
not a movement, not a breath, not a blink of the eyes

Put all these characters in a slow moving picture
a Pandora's box full of sad lonely people
feeling nothing at all that touches the soul

She believed in nothing; only her skepticism kept her from being an athiest. ~ Jean-Paul Sartre

The homeless, the divorced, the only child, the old & dying, the mentally ill, the despaired, all who walk in their shoes, feel the emptiness they feel.
