A Lover's Laments

A Lover's Laments

A Poem by Steven Pingel

A day of dabbling in dark deliberations,
Carrying a cross of ill-conceived considerations.
The natural nuance nominally named
Drapes days in despair, so defamed:
Love.

Lost Love loquaciously lamented
Creates crippling carnage long-cemented.
But only one open oration of attrition
Belays berating, false contrition.
A languorous Love leaves lugubriousness
And acrid assertions of abstemiousness;
Literally starving for Love.

The lesson learned is let Love last

Because Love, like alcohol, burns so fast.
Longing leaves lasting lacerations
But idolization is improvised incarceration.

About
