Love and LossA Poem by Steven PingelI was bored and kind of lonely at work last night, so I wrote this. The loneliest hearts are broken at the start. Lonesome roads warn bare by dragging feet That haul forth a moroseness so complete. Alas, how is one to break this cycle apart? When does one open again a broken soul That's grown to be a jagged, barren hole? When do the ravages of time become sublime? How does the soul-borne terror of lonely nights Become ones refuge to find life's simple delights? This, the quandary of how to survive the worst times; Only one emotion can crack that desolation And open life's options with a resuscitation. Find a lover to keep deep in your soul. A lover is one you can't live without, Whose time with you is your only redoubt. A lover transcends sex, makes your heart whole. Once found, never let a lover abscond, Because true lovers create an unbreakable bond. © 2015 Steven Pingel |
