Love and Loss

Love and Loss

A Poem by Steven Pingel
"

I was bored and kind of lonely at work last night, so I wrote this.

"

The loneliest hearts are broken at the start.

Lonesome roads warn bare by dragging feet

That haul forth a moroseness so complete.

Alas, how is one to break this cycle apart?

When does one open again a broken soul

That's grown to be a jagged, barren hole?

When do the ravages of time become sublime?

How does the soul-borne terror of lonely nights

Become ones refuge to find life's simple delights?

This, the quandary of how to survive the worst times;

Only one emotion can crack that desolation

And open life's options with a resuscitation.

Find a lover to keep deep in your soul.

A lover is one you can't live without,

Whose time with you is your only redoubt.

A lover transcends sex, makes your heart whole.

Once found, never let a lover abscond,

Because true lovers create an unbreakable bond.

Really sweet yet heart-breaking poem. I love your rhyme scheme here and the words you use are very descriptive. Overall the whole thing flows really well. Beautiful poem~

I've written hundreds of poems over the years but most of them were only ever seen by the then-girlfriend that they were written for. I decided to put some of them out into the world. Hence, I'm here... more..
