The Socks

The Socks

A Poem by J. Ellen Blake

I've worn the same socks
for five days in a row.
I think that at night
they're starting to glow!

They're stiff as a board
but they're my favorite pair.
Can't let my mom wash them
what if they tear?

I know they smell funny,
I know that they stink,
but if I should wash them,
I think they might shrink.

I got up this morning
my socks just wern't there.
Then I spotted some parts
of them under a chair.

And then I discovered,
and boy what a shock!
In my dogs mouth
was the rest of my sock!

I thought it was an adorable poem. I don't have any socks. My golden retrievers always have them in their mouth carring them around the house.

Nice rhymes and flow as well as a cute ending. Very enjoyable for children.

It's funny how this poem is "unsuitable for age 18", because it's just about the narrator's talking about how he lost his sock and found out that his dog ate it. ha-ha. I don't think this should be rated for people over the age 18. This poem sounds too childish and playful and rhyming. hee-hee. Thanks for reviewing my story!!! How is it related to your children as teenagers? Were they deep sleepers too?
