The Dark Eternal Night

The Dark Eternal Night

A Poem by Piro

All the world has many fears
Cup your hands around your ears
Shut your eyes oh-so-tight
And hope that you can sleep tonight

Tales of children beaten, bruised
Stories of lovers broken and used
Tastes of blood on every tongue
Poison air in every lung

Throats slashed all the live-long day
So at night the demons may come out to play
Whispering their many lies
You're not safe, don't dare cry

Slit your wrists and choke yourself
Cut out your tongue then cry for help
Watch the neighbors eat the children
No one will ever escape them

In the day the evil tames
But nothing will ever be the same
When one night comes and you're alone
Sadness breaking every bone

Listen to the world scream
Calling out with horror what it has seen
Wait for it to catch on fire
With the evil of mankind's desires

Cup your hands around your ears
So that you may never hear
What the world is really like
In the dark eternal night
