A Poem by Simon

cracked man hunched over a cracked glass

clasped in a cracked hand tipping

the syrup acid whisky dirpping over his cracked lips

a stream of pain to quench the cracks

his cracked head bleeding

and the mud paste hair sits on his scalp like a bandage

trenchcoat beige

dogcollar threadbare, mangey and strange

there are cracked worlds in his two cracked marble black glazed crazed eyes

fantasy or lies inviting you in from your dull existence

blistered rustle shell of skin, a rattling bagabones

the stench drags at the base of the chest, tightening in the oesophagus. yellow. corrupted linger.

onwards through a zigzag stained with blood and cement, a victim of the urban driv, the neon throat engorged on plastic, a swollen dumpster a stomach distended with hate, ticking, twitching, nails bitten to the quick, singing choir of madness, the low groans of a ravenous jackhammer smashing at the death knell, festooned in the heart of hell, swooping wings of fire, the talisman of voodoo witchery, the b*****s of desire
