Dragon Polishes the Pearl

Dragon Polishes the Pearl

A Poem by Picture of Poetry

Dragon polishes the

pearl of life.

The pearl that gives beauty

to the dark filled caverns

of mystery.

The pearl that shines and

shimmers in the light

of the moon.

Dragon polishes the moon

of light.

The great smiling face

that stares upon the

sleeping land.

The moon that glows

and glimmers its light

on the lake of

mystery, curiosity, and wonder.

Dragon polishes his heart

of gold.

The gold heart that

twinkles inside of him

like a lonely star

in the night sky.

It is filled with happiness and

it is what makes the dragon

who he is on the inside

and on the outside.

Dragon polishes the world,

holding it gently in his scaly palm,

gently swaying a soft gray cloth of

calm serenity over it wiping away the evil...

Dragon poishes his weak soul.

His soul of a clouded love...

His soul...

A dreary fog drowning a maze of hope...

its all good.
only qualm is the light of the moon to dragon polishes the moon of light. i'd take the whole "moon of light" part out as it kinda breaks the piece with a sence of repetition. the whole piece uses repetition to great effect but that part just stuck out.

that aside. it's fantastic. the imagery is deep and vivid. the voice remains clear and present and once again you create a subtle air of mystery within your work.
well done.

I really enjoyed these lines. I love the way you opened this poem, but maybe think it could have a stronger ending, but it is still a wonderful piece. I was especially delighted by it because I really love dragons.

i liked your poem, it had a medieval quality to it. but the second to the last stanza just doesn't work for me. i know thats not very helpful but i can't pin down why i don't like that stanza.

I love Dragons and mythology, medieval lore, and the Moon, so I really enjoyed this work. You bring in an element of a 'Creation' story or a visual of the Dragon as a universal keeper (aka God/Goddess/Mother/Father) and emphasize this with the closing stanza, which I found very orignal and lovely. You may be able to make this work even stronger if you can bring the imagery of the pearl to actually be the Moon. For instance, "Dragon polishes the pearl of life." When I read the first line I already saw that as representing the Moon, but I'm an astrologer so maybe I just see the Moon everywhere, LOL. But instead of the pearl shining in the Moonlight, could the pearl be the moon herself? This is beautiful and I will stop in to read more of your works. Blessings!

I'm not one to judge too quickly, but as soon as I saw the name of this poem I knew it was going to be good. My heart swelled at this part:

"Dragon polishes his heart
of gold.

The gold heart that
twinkles inside of him
like a lonely star
in the night sky.

It is filled with happiness and
it is what makes the dragon
who he is on the inside
and on the outside."

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you portray feeling quite well. ^ ^ Keep it up.

I really dug this piece, and I'm surprised I'd not read it before now. Keep up the great work.

I like this one it was unique and a new idea.
The flow made it seem more like one of the old medieveal poems.
The repetition gives ties it together.

I think it's a kowel poem, but the dragon can polish the moon, not the world, even if he is a mythological creature :)
