Chapter one

this is only part of the first chapter, but I'll add on later.

"Wait up!" Marley called to her twin brother Mark. Even though they were both thirteen, he acted like a five year old sometimes. She wanted to shout out 'act your age' but then she would sound freakishly like their mother, and she would never her the end of it. He was running toward the woods they were forbidden to go into, insisting he had seen someone staring at them, but she knew better. He just wanted an excuse to go in! either way, she had no choice now. she couldn't tell her Mom not only that Mark had supposedly seen a person in the woods, but he had gone after him! Their Mom was suffering from a minor depression ever since their Dad left. her husband left just over 13 years ago, when she was pregnant with the twins, and apparently, she had extremely in love with him, so much it was unbelievable. Marley tried to tell her that because he left he wasn't worth it, and that he didn't deserve her, but she just yelled that they had no idea what they were talking about, and went off to sulk in her room. She was completely sure that he was coming back.
Marley was at the edge of the woods now. She looked around quickly, making sure no one was watching, and stepped in. 'I'm doing it' she thought, though every few seconds she looked around, half expecting a bear, or a crazy murderer to jump out at her. She shuddered. What if Mark really did see someone? why was he staring at them? what if he is a murderer? a branch snapped, and Marley's breath got caught in her throat. was that her? or was it a bear? or worse, an insane murderer? And then it hit her. literally, it hit her. It jumped out of a tree, and landed on her back! she screamed as loud as you could when you have something jump on your back. It pinned her down hard. no doubt getting ready to attack. ' there really is an insane murderer in here!' she thought frantically, did they get Mark yet? would they ever find her? what would her Mom do? Now the attacker was laughing. She couldn't believe people could kill, and laugh about it! But something about that laugh was familiar. "Mark!" She yelled.
"you should've seen your face!" Marley clambered up off the ground. "I got you so bad!" as she looked at his gloating face she wanted to hit him.
"just wait until I tell Mom!" she threatened.
"you won't!" Mark said confidently
"and why not?"
"because then you'd have to tell her where we are!" he said leaning against the tree he jumped out of.
"I have half a mind to do just that." She was steaming now. If only he would stop acting like he cured cancer or something.
"oh that's no news!" he said calmly, "I always knew you had half a mind!" Marley scowled, and then said, "I heard that one once and laughed so hard I fell off my dinosaur!" he smirked.
"and you say my jokes are dumb!" Marley scowled. she was scary when she was angry, but so fun to mess with!
"well" she said, "at least I was right about one thing!" Mark asked skeptically.
"oh yeah, and whats that?"
"there is an insane person in here!" Mark stopped stood up straight and unfolded his arms."oh haha." he said. then,"wait!"
"what?" she said. did he see someone?
"you really thought I was an insane murderer or something? what a laugh!"
