Monday Meyham

Is your Monday better than mine..?

Another Monday dawns
And I sit at my desk clean
To-do notes from Friday
Take over the priority screen

A report about strength
Of a supporting wall
A proposal to assess plans
For a system stall

I type and I type with vigour
As it's still Monday
My mind yearns for the warmth
Of my bed on a Sunday..

I put my glasses down
And take a sip from my coffee cup cold
"How long ago did I make this?"
I wonder sipping more coffee old

"It is nearly lunch hour"
I look at the time!
How little I have gotten done
I think feeling like I have committed a crime

Emails phone calls come in
One after the other
Colleagues walk by smiling
Bantering with no bother

Fire alarm goes off
Making me jump from my chair at the noise shrill!
"Hmm..I hope it's not a fire.."
"Of course! it's only the Monday drill!"

"Should I have some soup
Or maybe a salad
Carbs! Carbs for the Monday madness
Healthy food is invalid!"

So boss man says
He wants a word quick
"I hope I've not made a mess.."
As my heart rapidly tick

"Look at the time again! 

It is time already?"
I eye my to-do's
Still my work flow steady

"I'll just finish this tomorrow"
I yawn and double blink
I stick a collage of post-its across my desk
Bearing instructions for self, in bold ink

"Look at the state of my desk"
Sigh.."It is only Monday"
"To hell, my day is done, I should go
And reward myself with a well deserved Sundae.."

I am usually not one to write straight forward pieces. Here's me having a go at some thing much light-hearted than my usual style-having a laugh about my Mondays! :)
