Philosophy 101: Knowledge

Philosophy 101: Knowledge

A Poem by Phunkadelique
"

"My take on the wonders of knowledge.."

"
They say knowledge is power...
but power corrupts, right?
So by this logic...knowledge corrupts!
So what shall it profit me to gain knowledge
only to corrupt my soul?
Yet is it not knowledge that makes me whole?
They may relinquish me of my possessions,
destroy my flesh, steal my freedom,
cast me away from their presence
and corrupt everything I hold near and dear to me!
But they cannot take my knowledge!
How so is it then that something so incorruptible
can BE so corruptible?!
Perhaps ignorance truly is bliss...
to never know is to never miss,
even genies deny granting such an awful wish!
For with knowledge comes much responsibility...
the more I know, the fewer and fewer excuses
I have to give reason for the many exclusions
and delusions that cause me to err in my ways!
Dare I say, "The man who knows right from wrong
yet still chooses to do wrong is corrupt in knowledge!"
Hereto lies the foundation for the saying "Knowledge corrupts!"
In it, I find that it is not knowledge itself that corrupts,
but rather, the knowledge OF our knowledge that corrupts!
Meaning...it is not the things we learn that corrupts us,
for the things we learn will exist in time
whether we know of them or not!
No, it is the moment we realize the previously unknown
as an identifiable experience that we corrupt ourselves.
For once we learn of something,
it is forever scripted into the pages of our mind,
whether consciously or subconsciously.

Class dismissed!
