The Compass, The Handcuffs, and The Heart-Shaped Locket Pt. 2

The Compass, The Handcuffs, and The Heart-Shaped Locket Pt. 2

A Poem by Phunkadelique

...I kept the compass in my pocket to represent my quest,
I was searching up and down so I could find the very best,
what I was looking for was love, but I found it to be untrue,
it's impossible to find love, love has to find you!
So I stopped looking for love and all of its affections,
I put the compass in the right pocket, hoping it'd lead me in the right direction...
and it did! Remember the day that we first met each other,
you were lost and needed help but you didn't ask another,
there were at least 30 other people you could've asked that day,
but we connected something special and I helped you along the way.
Well, I believe I've found that someone that I was once searching for,
Love did indeed find me, so I don't need this compass anymore!
As for the locket, I wore it around my neck to represent my heart,
that's why it bears the same shape and from my body NEVER departs,
my heart's been broken many times yet mended from within,
so I kept the locket close to me so it'd NEVER break again,
I always kept the locket closed so no-one would get inside,
It was empty for the longest or maybe filled with merely pride,
but then you came along that day and slowly tugged on the chain,
the chain that represented more, a chain that represented pain,
it was pain that held my heart, and pain refused to let it go,
but your love tugged at my chain of pain until it could not hold.
It seems all along my heart was just a mere innocent victim,
deep down inside it wanted to be free, but oh how the pain tricked em,
well, now my heart is free and is open to your love,
you have broken the chains confining it, a gift from up above,
I prayed every night that God would send me someone whole,
that special someone who would be my chicken soup for the soul,
so that's why I kept the compass in my right pocket,
and why I always wore the heart-shaped locket."
Stacy couldn't hold back, the whole time she'd been trying,
but the tears overflowed, she couldn't stop from crying.
Through the tears she said, "I love you SOOO much!!!
But you forgot...what about the pair of handcuffs?"
He said, "I didn't forget, I just saved the best for last,
the pair of handcuffs...they're for you, I'm arresting your a*s"
Stacy was confused, was he serious or just playing?
She said, "Is this one of your jokes? What are you saying?!"
He said, "You've been a bad girl, specifically and in general,
you stole my heart and picked the lock, babygirl, you're a criminal!"
He carried her up the stairs and laid her on the bed,
the candles already lit, rose petals adorned about her head,
he turned on some music, handcuffed her to the rails,
and whispered in her ear, "Bad girls go to jail!"
And so began a night you couldn't imagine if you tried,
they went at it through the night, all the way til the sunrise!
The compass is now retired, its arrows chuck the deuce,
the handcuffs on the other hand are often put to use,
the heart-shaped locket still finds itself in the same place,
but inside the heart, there lies a picture of a beautiful face!
No common ground amongst them besides the owner's pocket...
The compass, the handcuffs, and the heart-shaped locket!

This was so ... brilliantly sweet. Maybe I'm having an emotional day, but I teared up a bit. I had so many favorite lines in this one!
"it's impossible to find love, love has to find you!
So I stopped looking for love and all of its affections,
I put the compass in the right pocket, hoping it'd lead me in the right direction...
and it did!"

"my heart's been broken many times yet mended from within,
so I kept the locket close to me so it'd NEVER break again,
I always kept the locket closed so no-one would get inside,
It was empty for the longest or maybe filled with merely pride,

it was pain that held my heart, and pain refused to let it go,
but your love tugged at my chain of pain until it could not hold"

This was absolutely fantastic. I'm going to favorite this one. Loved it... such an honest offering of what love means, what can happen when you allow love to find you and when you allow yourself to be found.

This is really, like she said, brilliantly sweet.
There's some really nice lines in this.
My favorite would have to be
my heart's been broken many times yet mended from within,
so I kept the locket close to me so it'd NEVER break again,

haha I wish average guys could write like this (:
You, my friend, are not average.
