Stolen Sunshine

Stolen Sunshine

A Poem by Photochick
"

The end of a relationship

"
As i lay down waiting for the next hour to strike
the fear surrounded me like dark cloud cover surrounds a mountain top
No part of my features were visible any longer
An obscure blob encased in the dark mist

My compass no longer working
True north was lost
no direction seemed right
everything was in question

The sundial doesn't work with this kind of sinister sky

Right seemed left
Up and down even seemed to be in doubt
But no, not really
I know right from wrong
and what he did was wrong
Several thing were very wrong

He stole my sunshine
my light, my love
He made the beautiful dirty
Soiled it like yesterday's socks work in the mud and muck
of a walk taken with a secret lover

This storm will rage for some time to come.
Tears fall like rain
Rage claps like thunder over all the things he has done
and things he has failed to do

He has failed to follow through on promises made
Promises to have and to hold, love, cherish and honor

He promised in sickness and in health
but he said he left in part because I was sick
Now I am heartsick too.
He didn't want to take care of me
Well no I don't have to take care of him

He promised he would wait for me to get healthier
Yet another lie
a set up to fail me
Why did he promise these things when he knew he wanted to go away?
he just needed one excuse and when she showed up he was gone

He still says she is not the reason
Then why was he making love and promises until her?
Why then was he making the commitment?
Was he confused or just a liar and a thief?
