Color Blind Reality

Color Blind Reality

A Poem by phoenix on the rise
"

two years of angst and racial anxiety

"

(Chorus)
How can I be a fake
when I don't even know what is real?
If you are the truth,
Then I would rather take the lie.
(Verse one)
People are starving,
And passing away in empty graves.
Fighting for life
And losing it all.
But you don't even care.
You are so blind.
You just see color,
You just read lies,
Pain is your answer
So you just leave them to die.
But how can you know
What defines me as a person at all?
(Chorus)
So, how can I be a fake
When I don't even know what is real?
If you are the truth,
Then I would rather be a lie.
(Verse Two)
How am I different?
Aren't I the same?
Don't I want the same things?
And work the same jobs?
Or is this a lie?
('Cuz) I don't have to be a worker,
I don't have to be a slave.
I could be a ruler
Who lives above all.
But all you see is garbage.
A waste of time, money, and flesh.
I could be a sinner.
I could be a saint.
Or just another person who would love to paint.
But all you see is nothing...
You see a lie.
(Chorus)
How can I be a fake
When I don't even know what is real?
If you are the truth,
Then I would rather be a lie.
(Verse 3)
Suicide memories,
And masochist dreams
Filling up the body,
And becoming a new scene.
Walls of Insanity
Closing on in.
Two party races
Leaving me out
Feeling like an outcast
So full of doubt
Trapped in insecurity
Never alive.
(Chorus)
How can I be a fake
When I don't even know what is real?
If you are the truth,
Then I would rather be a lie.
(Verse 4)
I'm broken and battered
I've been left alone
I've been through the darkness
And seen who I could be
But this isn't truth,
This isn't me.
The future isn't certain.
Our lives aren't planned.
A person isn't defined.
They're the world around them.
I live for life.
I live for me.
I know who I am,
And i've seen real joy.
My bonds have been broken.
My chains are all gone.
I know who I am,
But who are you?
(Chorus)
So, how can I be a fake
When I don't even know what is real?
If you are the truth,
Then I would rather die.
(Solo)
I would rather die.
