Corner of Friendship and Lust

Corner of Friendship and Lust

A Poem by phoenix on the rise
"

crossroads of time

"

A broken street of memories,

decorated with signs of joy and delight.

A twisted road,

decorated with images of longing and desire.

Tow paths converging on a single point.

The crossroads of the past and the future.

Thoughts rushing through my mind,

and cravings filling up my being.

Old friends offering their friendship,

and new acquaintances igniting the senses.

Childhood innocence smothering the darkness,

and teenage eagerness capturing the light.

Newfound comforts granting life to love,

and ancient inhibitions resurfacing into reality.

Trust being newly discovered,

and insecurity newly reborn.

I'm at the crossroads of time,

and the decisions are unclear.

Which path to take,

and which one to forget?

Which one.......?

I liked this piece, but at the same time I think it could have used a little something extra. Your flow was good as well as your word choice, but I feel this poem is missing a little catch somewhere. I really liked it, don't get me wrong, but to me, it needs a really outstanding line or phrase to make it become great. Try playing around with alliterations or assonance, it can really create a unique feel with a lot of rhythm. Good job though!

Yeah, I know what you mean. ;) I think many go through this at the time of their young adulthood, when friends begin to look like a tasty snack. lol Great job capturing the reality of this very common event in life.

Ironically Yours.
