we were stars

we were stars

A Poem by pheonix

TO: my favorite "what if"

lying on the grass,
we'd point to the stars,

"that's us right there,
imbued in the sky,

to be admired by all,
the star of us, forevermore"

oh, but how right we were;
we were stars but

just like one we collapsed
as time continued to pass by

we crumbled into remnants of destructive beauty

a spectacular ending to a bond we thought was destined from above

we were stars,
and we ended just like one

Beautifully penned. Leaves the reader with a feeling that we all become stars, end like them, only to begin again. All we can hope is that the one that makes us shine the brightest will be around long enough to share it with.
