The Sparrow's SongA Poem by S.E. PhoenixA poem about a SparrowOnce I was told, In the world of old, A sparrow to be found. A sparrow without a sound. This sad creature had no voice But that was of its own choice. This sparrow could sing a tune, From July all the way to June. This sparrow had a song - A million and a half miles long. This sparrow’s song could soar, Could fly past the moon and then some more. But the sparrow had a hitch. A small, minuscule glitch There was no one to flip the switch. The sparrow was all alone And felt the loneliness in its very bones. And all the sparrows know : You can’t sing a cheer When there’s no one to hear. You can’t have your song glimmer and glisten When there’s no one that can listen. You can’t sing a song When there’s no one to sing along. Once I found A sparrow bursting with sound. The sparrow was never alone And it sang till its entire body shone. The sparrow’s voice was tinged with strife, As if, the song had been in there its whole life. But now the song was free And I found that the key was me. One note and I knew That I could sing that tune too. To the moon, our voices did roam And we sung the sparrows song As we finally went home And we never again were alone. © 2011 S.E. PhoenixAuthor's Note
