Son to MotherA Poem by LeonieThis is a take off, of mother to son by langston hugh
Well, ma, I’ll tell you: Life for me ain’t been no peaceful River The Water’s pulled me and rushed over me I 've clashed with sharp rocks and stones Sometimes the floor is silt and smooth then it’s harsh and stony You lose what you carry, you get stuck between stones You look around and everyone is moving on You pull loose and rush to catch up, Sometimes I Do, Sometimes I Don’t You’re covered in shade by the trees above Suddenly you’re left alone Exposed Hurt by the sun But still you move on A Waterfall approaches and you hear it from far You're rushed down Stuck in the violent twirl of the current You struggle for air and with all your might you pull yourself out There have been splits at ends I’ve emptied into Bigger Lakes But Life for me ain't been no peaceful river © 2009 LeonieAuthor's Note
