Look Up!

Look Up!

A Poem by Phoenix Aradia

A trail horse

Tired of the sights

Decides to run

And then she takes flight

She only thought of forward and back

Maybe side to side

But then she lifted her head

And finally saw the sky

She reared up

And roared

Then sprouted wings

And soared

She was really a Pegasus

or a Valkyries steed

So she lunged through the air,

Picking up speed

She'd been bound by man, bound to the land

And never knew what she could be

Till that day she looked up with her eyes

And finally began to see

She flew far

And glided through the air

The other horses below her

Began to look up and stare

They saw the sky,

And did not scare

rather decided to try to fly

For they were just as fair

Lightness of spirit

Lent lightness to hoof

And they joined her

Flying over every roof

They swooped down low

And saw a girl standing in a line

From all accounts she seemed

to be doing only fine

They winked at her

And caught her eye

And on that day, the girl, too

Looked up to the sky
