Picture Perfect

Picture Perfect

A Poem by Yira Simone
"

re-post of another poem.

"
She hid behind the shutters,
eyes open,
but never seeing
the light.

In a flash,
moods changed,
a frown became a smile.
All was forgiven.

Would that matter now?

The moment passed,
like a breeze,
swift, prickly, and
unseen, like me.
Yet, somehow it lingers still...
in the present waiting
to be exposed.

I want to be that Polaroid
that she would hold
to her chest , and feel
the warmth of her body,
knowing that,
over time,
I would reveal myself,
to her,
bit by bit.

She would see me clearly then.

She would hear
the thousand words
trapped in that moment,
then she would step away
from the shutters...

and into the light.
