happiness in life

My teacher once asked

Where do you see yourself,

In 20 years?

 

Most people responded  

In a big house on the hill

With a diamond ring on my finger

 

But when it came time for me to say

I had to think long and hard

When I finally answered the whole room went silent

I don’t care as too see myself in the future

As long as I am happy, and as long as I’m loved

And can love in return, then I will be fine with what I have.

Then the teacher told me it wasn’t a valid response,

Who is she to judge me?

When I just want to be happy

Why do adults always question what we have to say?

There are many things I may want

But the question is what I will get?

Life will get hard

And soon I’ll have no one to fall back on

So on the day of that question I looked up at my teacher in response

You cannot buy happiness you can only make it

So wanting to be happy in life, is a greater achievement

Then one can ever dream of.
