HammerheadsA Poem by Phil SmitReflecting on the hypocritical nature of humans. Simple to just slow down and take a look around ourselves.Hammerhead He’s got massive cheekbones!!! If that’s what they are, I don’t really know. I wonder if he ever wants to look at his nose. Now that I think about it, Does he even have a nose?? Oceans are vast and immense, Full of Hammerheads. The world is large and dense, Full of people who seem To be taking a hammer to their head. I think it’s out of desperation. Maddened people diving into their own heads, Cracking it open to see what kind of coral is inside. It drives some crazy I think. Or have they found what really makes them happy? At times we are small fish. Alone, abandoned, seemingly forgotten. Confused, we look around. Clear blue water, as far as the eye can see. We can go anywhere, do anything. Pick North, South, Up, or Down. We can swim in circles or spirals, or round about in squares. The world is full of possibilities. Are we sometimes a hammerhead? Unable to see what’s right in front. Go mad trying to see where to go. A tiny fish might say, Just keep swimming, You’ll get there eventually. © 2014 Phil SmitReviews
