Born of the sun and earth And kin to the moon and sea Life's immensity Exceeds humanity And the planet needs us No more than fleas So don't be fooled into thinking We will always exist In terms of the universe We are no more than dust
This is really cool, and so true. It reminds me of a poem by Sarah Teasdale titled, "There Will Come Soft Rains." (That's actually my favorite poem to date). I love the way that, while your poem doesn't rhyme, it sort of just rolls off the tounge, lightly and elegantly. It's sort of a nice way to describe the futility of humanity

Thank you very much! I just believe that we over-estimate our significance in the scheme of things.
I'm from the north-west of England where the rain lives. I am retired and a grandfather to many. I've led an "interesting" life, i suppose you could say, with lots of laughter and a few tears, like mo.. more..
