COFFEE AND BISCUITS

COFFEE AND BISCUITS

A Poem by Phil Roberts

Sweet fragrances
Jasmine and honeysuckle
Curtains open and the sun looks in
A smiling "Good morning,"
"At last," says he
"Indeed," say I
Returning his smile with interest
Somewhere nearby a radio plays
The Platters are crooning
"...Only you can make this world seem right...."
"So true," say I. "So very true."
And the warmth is wonderful
And has nothing to do with the sun
Smiling eyes and gentle laughter
Over coffee and biscuits
And there's still a full day to go
Followed by many more
