my beloved my

A Poem by philology

I knew you at first sight,  (this is) my beloved my

your
hands  and  lips  and  eyes  and  pose
                                I knew
(you. The dreamer speaking in an empty room)

And again, clearly:
               on the edge of summer
         our cars met, overreacting
     the sky in my eyes
you, sun haloed
         (he speaks light stained gardens
                 soft-deep with moss and sultry
                                 irises)

I kissed you, trembling
            (the speaker raises his voice
& the garden floods with the scent of sun and rain.)
