i'm not like that.

this...this is a poem close to home. i tried to capture what every boy tries to say to their girl whenever they get paranoid, as i have been there too many times. hope i pulled it off.

I could hold you in my arms

Squeeze the love out of you.

But that would be cheesy.

I’m not like that.

 

I could watch you dance,

As the rain falls on your skin.

But that would be boring.

Im not like that.

 

I could get jealous,

That you ring up my friends.

But that would be assuming.

Im not like that.

 

I could say your worthless,

That you ponce from my house.

But that would mean I judge.

Im not like that.

 

I could just ditch you,

move on to the next one.

But that would be unserious.

Im not like that.

 

So remove the paranoia.

Remove the self doubt.

I’m truthful, I love you.

I’m-not-like-that.

Brilliant. Good use of repetition, and words that I can relate to quite closely (as I'm sure most lads can). You show that rhyming is not needed to make a poem flow nicely.
