to my paps

A Poem by nigrum homonculus
"

a man who i have not always seen eye to eye with, but that doesn't mean i don't love him. happy birthday dad and may you be blessed with many many more years.

"
"i don't have to like you to still love you"
i remember these words so well.
i know we butt heads and on one occasion
blows.
but you're still dad, my brother, my G
the first ever person that believed in me.
today is your birthday an yet you're so young
keeping up with the kids
your years of fun are far from done.
the spring in your step is still very strong
from 6 to 16 i have never seen it go
just like the timeless smile that follow your jokes
infecting me and giving me a smile of my own
and although at times we may be distant,
you'll always be the person i look up to
no matter how tall i become.
you were my first friend
an straight up my best.
the "day one donny"
mr vintage and class,
the reason why i'm happy.

this isn't a poem. this is basically a letter for him to read when he gets home from work.

Fathers can be difficult. I never got along with mine all that well either. Better now. It helps that he's a good 800 miles away.
