some solitude

loneliness isn't necessarily a curse people. it can be the greatest thing that can happen to you.

solitary living is a gift not understood.

a choice misunderstood.

happiness over looked.

it's not self pity it's self assessment.

although on the outside it looks like self resentment 

straight face, no heart, cold temperament.

but to know yourself is to love yourself.

knowing your intellectual riches and health.

knowing what to add to you're mental wealth.

and although this path is the longest

and sometimes the hardest,

those who fly solo have wings that are the strongest.

The first and the last lines are my favorite because they both hold so much truth and I can relate to them really well. It's strange how people mistake being alone and what it actually is or feels like. They don't understand the aspect of space, the thing everyone needs after awhile. I honestly love being by myself and function so much better some days by myself. That's also when I'm most creative and thoughtful, understanding, smart. I'm a lot of things when I'm by myself and the possibilities are endless! Solitude can make someone mentally stronger and willing to face the dark world without a problem because in the end, we all die alone. So, they won't be scared since they spent so much time in their own company.

I'm always happy to relate. That's what I truly love in some writers poetry if its real honest and if I can deeply relate to it. I love being by myself because then I feel I can tolerate more things around me. I'm much more peaceful when I'm alone, in my own element so to speak. I always expect people to respect my space and when I need it as I will respect theirs in return.

I've never lived alone. I lived with my Parents, I've lived with a platoon of Marines, I've lived with girlfriends, a wife, even friends when I was in between the weird worlds of divorce and being a civilian for the first time in my grownup life. Currently I live with my girlfriend. I gotta tell you, solitude is a beautiful thing, when I can get it.
