20 year letter

well...something i have wanted to say for a long time. i'm almost 21 but my parents treat me like i'm 12. its kind of annoying.

i understand that you won't be here forever

but mum and dad listen, i'm on my way to being a man

i will make mistakes which will lead to regret.

i will be stupid and naive, careless and aggressive

but we all trip up on the path that we walk.

if nothing is ventured, is anything gained?

this all experience, don't protect me.

i will eventually become immune to what the world throws at me.

i'll become like you two.

strong, full of faith and vigor.

firm, fair and level headed. 

you two had to have slip ups in order to know one when you see one

let me do that.

let me screw up so horribly it shakes the very foundations of my thought process.

let me think twice before making the same mistake again and again.

let me learn life.

let me learn how to survive.
