The monster inside

The monster inside

A Poem by horror master
"

How depression, rejection, loneliness can take to a drastic point in your life and make you do the unthinkable

"
The darkness swarms as a hoard of locusts, the light retreats in fear as death consumes life. Your heartbeat increases as you realize you don't have anywhere to run. You're trapped and you start to give into the demons swarming around your head as they whisper the truth of life, the hatred your friends and family hide from you, they tell you to unleash the monster which you try so hard to keep locked up. The whispers get louder and painful. Don't you hear the clinging of steel from afar. Like two swords fighting for domination. You walk memorized to the kitchen. The sound starts to get louder and a banging hammers against your skull. You open the drawer and the clinging abruptly stopped. The voices talk again, ordering you to do the unthinkable. You pick up the biggest knife their is, thick and sharp. The right tool for the mission you need to come to a end. You grip it hard and tight. Your knuckles turning white as you know what will be happening. Something within tells you No!! But a voice in your head says to ignore what is said. Tells you to do what needs done. You have no family, no friends... You're alone. The voice in your mind is your friend. They council you. They decide your fate. There are no choices now. No choices left. It's do or die. You lift your arm half way up to meet your gaze. You see the grey veins pumping the blood that stays submerged.... But not for much longer. You bring the steel knife close and you can feel the cold sting inches from your wrists. Don't think... Just do it. Without anymore delay you bring the knife down, it's cold to the touch. You slide it across... The pain soaring throughout your entire body. Tis' nothing says the voice it's just a scratch. You obey and continue the onslaught continues. You stop as you wait eagerly for the red fluid to flow out. It seeps down the white skin as more and more flow to the surface. The pain is overtaken by the pleasure, by the relieved feeling from the pain flowing out. You have no more sadness. Your heart turns black as love disappears by the hate which no posses you. But you are still not satisfied. You have not gotten that satisfaction. Something is missing. The voice identifies the problem. You need to end the pain, not stop temporarily. You agree. You look at the mirror. You reflection stares back at you. Except.... It's not you. It's someone... Something..else. It wears your face. A monster. You see your true inner self. It's hideous. You want to cut it up so you don't have to bear the pain of looking anymore. Your reflection grins and winks at you. A knife suddenly slides across your face. Blood oozes out frantically. He grins back and laughing frantically. Then you blink and it's just you.... It's your normal reflection. You reply the image on repeat... The blood pouring down your face. The knife sliding across. The evil grin... The maniac laughter. As you thinking this you start laughing. The demon inside knows he has won. You give in. You don't fight it anymore. You tried drowning your demon but he knew how to swim. You tried everything but there was no escape... There is no escape... But one. You lifted the blade up, further, further till it was an inch from your blood pulsing.... Juicy thick neck. That's what you wants. That's where it all ends. One last glance into the mirror... To see the monster you have created. The demon who has taken over your mind, your body and your soul. You grip the handle of the cold steel blade and without a thought you slide it ever so slowly across your neck. You stop when you feel the blood pour out your neck and down your torso. You slowly start loosing focus, your view starts to get blurry and your body temperature drops. Coldness replaces heat and you know in a few seconds.... In a few seconds...everything will mean nothing... It will not matter. With your strength, the last you can conjure up, you stare at your reflection. But for once it's your own reflection. You look at yourself. The evil pouring out of you. The demon in your eyes. You take one last look and you laugh. Then without warning your body gives in and collapses. You land on the floor and no matter how much you try you can't get up, you can't get up, you can't up.... You can't get f*****g up. The blood forms a pool around you and your heart slowly comes to a faint thump. Your mind shuts down. All you can think about is the release of the hell you living, the misery that will no longer be. Life finally drains and the light in your eyes fades into the black hole of your iris. The monster within always wins
