A Sorrowful Farewell

A Sorrowful Farewell

A Poem by philapotamus

Can't recapture time
only slips away
leading me to wonder
do we cease the day?

or do we fade away
bright colors turn to gray
promises grow bleaker
with each new passing day

Could never love my self,
so once I turned to you
the love you laid upon me
left me finally fulfilled

Fast forward some years later
chasing pristine memories
compare divine fulfillment
to this treached misery

I see the joy you find in others,
you no longer find in me
still the person that you love
yet, youve grown tired of me

or who I've come to be?
and who your eyes now see
all visions indicating
you wish to be set free

dismal smiles
through
futile reconciles

steady agony
while
loving painfully

I must finally accept,
we are not our history.

We are this.
We are history.

I chose to rhyme me with me in S5, I thought it resignated well in that particular content.

Or does it just read as lazy writing?
