Downpour

Downpour

A Poem by pheasant

Arizona skies twinkle the eyes
As fast-drifting clouds speak out loud

A storm rustles in the distance
Neutralizing all resistance

A blackbird buzzes through
Catching currents like glue
Curling under thickets
As sparked thunder quick it

A sidewinder slithers
Burrowing beneath sand
As a coyote dithers
Scrambling up the land

A roadrunner jumps
Into high gear
As the roaring thumps
Sounding so near

The downpour releases
The enlivening liquids
As the drenching increases
All dryness then ceases

And the wilderness imbibes life's nectar, hard pressed to quench that ever undying thirst of the world's will to sustain life... This is a beauty, full of scenic expression, showing the desert prepare to satisfy the desires to consume the cocktail of life, Water...This piece is full of life!!!

I remember AZ so well, Sedona being my favorite. The skies are beautiful. I appreciate the reminders tucked away in a wonderful create!

I like the feel of this poem. Remind me of camping in Georgia with the Army in the big storms. The description took me back to cold and wet days. A excellent poem. Nature had it own way for only the wise to be able to see.

There's a melodic touch to your poem, the meter has a specific ring to it - intended or not - which I really like. I get a real feel of your desert and everything it holds. Probably never will get to Arizona but it's obviously a place full of movement and natural magic. (Heard a programme about a man called Leopold recently, he travelled your way if I remember correctly.

Very cool. I’ve never been to Arizona (or anywhere like it) but this poem gives me a good sense of what the place must be like. Well done! It sounds like an enchanting place.
