Lady's of Flight and Fire

Lady's of Flight and Fire

A Poem by phantom pains
"

Life and Death; the quarreling sisters.

"
Life and Death sung the same song
In different verses. Life sung light and airy,
Her song engulfed the weakest of life forms,
And gave them beauty.

The dawning of a child, a human or its lesser,
The rising sun, birth of a new day,
Or the silent springing of a sapling,
This was her song; miraculous and magnificent.

Life and Death sung the same song
In different verses. Death sung dense and heavy,
Her song overpowered the strongest of life forms,
And gave them sickness.

The first last breath of that same unmoved child on his death bed,
The dying sun, consumed by night,
And the chopping of a sprouting tree by blades of manifest,
This was her song; dismal and disconsolate.

Life and Death sung the same song
In different verses. Life had her lines,
And Death had hers. Life began, quickened, then slowed,
Death began, the last word, then closed.

phantom pains
This came to me while I was walking to the mail box and I saw these really nice red flowers. The top half of the flower sprouting, while the bottom half was dead and wilting.
