Goodbye, My Love

Goodbye, My Love

A Poem by Melanie Nicole
"

Breaking Up. Oh yeah. It sucks. The End. :)

"
My first love, the one I gave everything too,
what changed? Why did you want a life anew?

I did not listen, and I could not hear;
There's no way that you do not want me near.

Do you know how many tears I cried?
A hundred for ever second it took our love to die.

You said you'd hold me as long as you live;
How could you end it -- I had everything to give!

White picket fences, babies, love and life;
You wanted it all, yet we end in grief and strife.

Five seconds later and you have someone new;
Did I ever mean anything at all to you?

Yet here I sit, not crying, typing in my chair;
Even though it's not purple, I know have pretty hair

I laugh at you and that cliche and "new" girl;
I'm sure that she'll  take you for quite a whirl

We used to make fun of girls like that;
My love, whatever happened? Where are you at?

Surprisingly, it's in the past and I am over you now;
I have not the slightest clue how

I have my friends, my lights shining through;
I've been here before, and it's not all that new.

I've rediscovered myself and  my one true love;
My best friend, and my angel from above.

What did not kill me really did make me stronger;
I've finally realized that I don't need you any longer.

Goodbye, my love.

Goodbye.

" Yet here I sit, not crying, typing in my chair;

This is a reference to the new girlfriend, in case you were curious.

This is kinda mediocre...but I'm really bad at rhyming, so I went pretty cliche. I just wanted to somehow express my anger and my realizations that I experienced through my break up.

Wooooow....
Mels, this is awesome! You know that when I see you tomorrow, I'm going to gush and rant about how this is awesome! I loved the flow, the way the stanzas just fell one right after the other. This is awesome in so many ways :)
Pssht...your hair is so much prettier then Ali's :)

This was extrvagent:) (sp?) It does touch the inside of one persons soul. I usually skim through poems like this, and don't review. But this was one of the few that actually catches my attention ^.^ Terriffic writing.

The title made me expect something like Mimi's 'Goodbye Love'(?)...
But it was completely different and wonderful.
Fantastic,wonderful work.

The fact that you had to point out:
"I've rediscovered myself and my one true love;
My best friend, and my angel from above"
makes me an epic fail. I'm sorry haha :) Thank you tuts! I love you!

This is probably my favorite part.
Its really good, and the lines are very well balanced with each other.

Everyone needs to vent and I must say, you are much better than rhyming than I am, even under the impression of anger. Great write.
