In the quiet twilit places

in the quiet twilit places
    where children fall to ash
    & the grave sunset will be beholden
    in all its grey & faded splendor

and in the distant silence
    where time whispers gently
    at its passing

there, beyond the dark
    where horses graze
    in empty pasture

        that is where the soul goes
                on its way out.
