Stork Baby

Stork Baby

A Poem by Jenni Bailey

A baby girl is born, Daddy’s waiting for her first cry

Her existence is so fragile, she could die

Every minute counted, she needed help to live

Daddy waiting; something just had to give

Years went by, she’s 10 years old

Daddy’s care grew to be cold

She worked so hard for that first breath

Now, what does she have left?

She has to work to have a life

Cerebral Palsy is already so demanding, why?

That first breath she drew?

She’s no longer thanking you

You’ve made her feel that your life was interrupted

When did she stop being accepted?

She is not a stork baby

She’s made herself into a young lady
