My Hero

My Hero

A Poem by Jenni Bailey
"

My hero wasn't a true one

"
My hero held my fragile hand
but at the same time, held in high demand
My hero said ''I love you, too, Jennifer''
But at the same time, had me feel unsure
My hero watched me walk
But at the same time, ashamed he taught me to talk
My hero wiped my tears
But at the same time, didn't see what caused them for years
My hero would tuck me into bed
But at the same time, watched me hit my head
My hero said alot
But at the same time, there were clues he never got
My hero hugged and kissed me
But at the same time, I didn't know if he missed me
My hero knew I was born different
But at the same time, treated me as tho I was hell-sent
My hero took me to the doctor
But, at the same time, he was teacher that would ''dock'' her
My hero would keep me home from school
But at the same time, his wife wasn't cool
My hero was my Dad
I didn't mean to be bad
I just needed someone
But you were just done
You said it all in one sentence
I went on the offense
I used to ask myself ''why?''
I don't anymore: I just say ''my hero, good bye
