Heh.

Heh.

A Poem by PL Fremmie

A bug makes you scream
But nah, you're strong.
I'm rarely right
And you're never wrong.
I boast and I brag
Show my feathers and pound.
But your chest-is-gettin'
The only attention around.
I'm brave. No fear.
"Yeah I got your back.
Ah! What was that!?
That gave me a heart attack!

I strut, I got finesse
She checks as I jest.
Across the room making new friends.
At the end of these nights
There's always amends.
I can tell that she's mine
From every brief look.
My woman my rock
Reads me just like a book.

See methinks I'm the brains
Behind all this "beaute-braun".
This suave "debon-air".
She lets me put on.
I talk of my work
Hands callous and proud.
'You see no-one works harder, no,
No one around."
"I provide for my kids
Cause they need a real Dad.
I put myself through college."
Heh. Like no one else has.
"I've been clean for 9 years
I guess you could say,
If I hadn't worked the Beast
Wouldn't be here today."

My woman she sees how happy I am.
She let's me go on. And on. And on and on.
And on.
Sometimes I forget
A whole ton of small things.
She let's most slip by
Cause she knows my past stings.

I'll whisper to the boys,
"It's me wears the pants."
But make no mistake.
Nuh-uh. No chance.
"The checkbook's mine.
Why you need a little hand?
Oh bro. Nah.
I'll make her understand."

I grab a quick glance of the General cross the room.
Points to her watch.
Tick. Tick. Vroom. Vroom.
I say, "Hey Yo. I'm tired and I'm out.
Gonna grab my old lady.
Keep in touch. Yeah. No doubt."

We zip back to home.
To our humble abode.
"One thing Baby, before we go in
That I want you to know.
I'm glad you're the boss.
That you're running the show.
I can't do it alone.
That much I do know.
From the day that you saved me from all a that pain.
Without you I'm lost like
A lion with no mane.
Your strength and compassion
Make me more of a man.
Without your direction
I couldn't even stand.

You are my woman
And I am your man.
