FOR DOROTHY AGAIN

FOR DOROTHY AGAIN

A Poem by Peter Rogerson
"

I wrote this poem eight years ago. Dorothy and I had met for the first time in 2007 after becoming acquainted via the blogging facilities of MySpace when that was the social networking favourite.

"

Like a mermaid in the ocean
Or a nymph abreast a leaf
My love came looking for me
Precious beyond belief:
She held me to her bosom
And I clung like weaklings do,
A whisper from the Heavens
A song for me and you.

It said that love is endless,
It spoke of sacred time,
It's lyrics wafted over
In melting, flowing rhyme,
And I took your hand in mine, dear,
In the way that lost souls might,
I clung, a special orphan
Lost in this brand new night.

And swirling stars and radiance
And angels dancing free
And deities and novas
Shone on you and me,
We were the hope of nations
Lost and in despair,
The lovers everlasting
They say is something rare.

And life's a road to darkness
When darkness is an end,
A road we share together,
My lover and my friend,
And on the way we'll saunter
Not run like others do,
Take our time to wonder
Where all the long hours flew.

Dorothy and I have now been married for several years and I've got to say that meeting her was the very best thing that has happened in my life.
