NOT MUCH TO SAY

NOT MUCH TO SAY

A Poem by Peter Rogerson
"

I met my wonderful wife when we were in our sixties and I couldn't have bettered that meeting, not ever....

"

There isn’t much to say to you

That isn’t from the heart,

Of this and that and daisy chains

And never, ever part,

And can you see the light that shone

Back at the very start?

There’s not so much in tiny words

Of one or two or three,

Brief syllables that spell my love,

And rhymes that set me free,

Come here, my lovely dear, come close

And sit upon my knee…

And the depth of songs that folk man sang

In days before we met,

Of colours here and catch the wind

Lest age makes me forget,

But now I hold your strongest hand,

So let me place my bet.

I’ll bet the light inside your eyes

Comes shining from your mind,

I’ll bet the smile upon your face

Could never be unkind,

And when the night blocks out the day

Those eyes are never blind.

This is amazing and brilliant. How love runs throughout your poem is awesome. Plus, vivid imagery has added to its beauty. Some beautiful events stuck our minds forever. And they are so dear to us that we think that event couldn't have been better than it had been. This expresses your satisfaction- which is a good thing. Well-written. Keep writing.
